The EU AI Act applies in stages. Since February 2025 certain AI practices have been banned, and companies must ensure sufficient AI literacy among their staff. Anyone using AI in direct contact with people, such as a chatbot, must disclose it. For high-risk systems, for example in HR decisions, the EU institutions agreed later deadlines through the Digital Omnibus.

In practice this means: record which AI systems you use, classify them by risk, train your team and clarify which data flows to which vendor. Where personal or confidential data is involved, EU-hosted models or local AI on your own hardware are options.
